THE STORY OF THE PESHTEMAL: These flatwoven towels have a beautiful history that also ties back to the royal women of the Ottoman Palace who wanted peshtemals that were ornate and more unique to be able to show them off in their Hammam visits, which in that era was the most significant part of their social life. They hired professional weavers to design such bath towels which created a peaking point in the history of peshtemal. During and after 17th century, peshtamals became a symbol for both fashion and utility.
